Eligibility & Admission Process

Japan is Facing the Largest Young Talent Shortage in History

日本のアニメ産業 • 人材不足

60% World’s Share

Japan produces a dominant share of the world’s most influential animated TV content and remains the global leader in anime production.

310 Anime Titles / Year

Japan’s anime output is powered by a manga ecosystem of 1,000+ new stories each year, creating sustained demand for trained talent.

$30 Billion Market

The global anime market is projected to reach US$30 billion in 2026 and grow at 10.6% CAGR through 2031.

3 Years of waiting

OTT platforms demand far more anime than Japan can currently supply, and leading studios are often booked up to 3 to 5 years in advance.

45 Avg Talent Age

Falling birth rates are shrinking Japan’s anime talent pipeline, leaving studios with an aging workforce and talent shortages and growing production pressure.

The Global Opportunity

Japan urgently needs a new generation of trained international creators. Despite rising production costs, most outsourcing destinations still struggle to consistently match Japan’s standards of artistic quality and storytelling depth, largely due to language and cultural barriers. At the same time, AI has not meaningfully resolved the industry’s core production challenges. Anime remains a director-driven medium, where storytelling precision, aesthetic nuance, and emotional impact continue to depend on extensive manual artist effort and skilled human judgment.

India has the advantage of a large base of young creatives and professional artists. The real edge emerges when that talent is upgraded with Manga & Anime cultural aesthetics + Japanese workflow discipline + language fluency.

“India’s artists, your time is now—Japan needs you.”

Scope & Opportunity

As a pioneer in creative arts education, IACG Multimedia College has been shaping industry ready professionals for over 25 years, standing uniquely as the first college in India to collaborate with Kyoto Seika University, Japan. India’s rich storytelling heritage and rapidly expanding digital media ecosystem make it a natural partner in Japan’s creative evolution.

Focus: To Build Manga & Anime talent pipeline by combining India’s storytelling strengths with authentic Japanese standards.

Kyoto Seika University (KSU), Japan the world’s first and the top most respected university dedicated to promote Manga and Anime in Japan.  For over 58 years, KSU has been Japan’s leading academic pipeline for professional manga & anime talent, shaping commercially successful artists, illustrators, and animators.

Focus: To address Japan’s skilled youth shortage by developing industry-ready creators through International collaboration.

On 10 September 2025, IACG and Kyoto Seika University entered into a landmark collaboration focused on curriculum design, academic mentorship, and student–faculty exchange programs, creating new global learning pathways. Through this initiative, IACG aims to bridge the creative talent demand between the two nations – empowering the next generation of Manga and Anime creators to combine Indian imagination with Japanese precision.
