Mastering Professional Studio Pipelines from Concept to Completion
The Rocksalt workshop introduced students to end-to-end production pipelines used in professional studios across illustration, animation, 3D game art, and game development. The session offered an in-depth look at how ideas move from rough concepts to polished outputs, helping students understand real-world workflows and industry expectations.
Participants observed each stage of the pipeline and learned how different departments work together to build a final creative product.
From brief to final render: define goals, explore ideas through thumbnails, develop detailed concepts, iterate based on feedback, and produce polished high-resolution illustrations.
Pre-production planning with scripts and animatics, asset creation for characters and backgrounds, frame-by-frame animation, and post-production compositing with FX and sound
Concept and blockout, high-poly sculpting, low-poly retopology, baking and UV unwrapping, material texturing, and engine integration for game-ready assets.
Pre-production with GDD outlining mechanics and features, progressive production starting with vertical slice, and iterative feature expansion through development stages.
