Turning Ideas into Cinematic Stories
The Screenwriting Workshop guided students through the storytelling principles used by professional screenwriters around the world. Across three structured stages, participants learned how to build a story from the ground up—from shaping characters and plot to formatting scenes in industry-standard screenplay style.
Through analysis, hands-on writing, and practical software training, students discovered how to turn ideas into cinematic stories.
Students explored core building blocks: Genre (tone & audience appeal), Loglines (one-sentence pitches), Characters (goals, motivations, flaws, arcs), Hero's Journey (classic 12-step model), and Analysis (breaking down professional screenplays). .
This segment focused on creating tension and narrative cohesion through Treatment Writing, Conflict Dynamics (power shifts & tension), Stakes (risk & urgency), Cause & Effect (logical scene connections), and Integration (weaving elements into smooth flow)
Part 3: Practical Screenplay Writing Students transitioned to actual scriptwriting using CELTX Software for industry-standard formatting, crafting the First 10 Pages (hook, hero, world, inciting incident), understanding Scene Purpose (goal, conflict, outcome), and applying Professional Formatting rules.
