Anime industry valuation
Japan leads the world’s creative economy — contributing 40% of global animation and 85% of global comic production. The Anime industry alone is valued at over USD 25 billion, while Manga dominates both domestic and international publishing markets. Each year, Japan releases 1,000+ manga titles and 300+ anime seasons, with streaming platforms, gaming, and merchandising driving unprecedented growth.
Severe shortage of skilled professionals driven by declining birth rates
1–4 year delays due to limited talent and aging workforce
Seeking international collaborations despite cultural barriers
Despite being the global hub of creativity, Japan is facing a severe shortage of skilled professionals, driven by a declining birth rate over the past two decades. Animation studios are experiencing production delays of 1–4 years due to limited talent availability and an aging workforce. Even though Japan’s animation costs are 5–10 times higher than in the U.S., no other country has been able to fill this gap because of cultural and language barriers. As a result, Japanese studios are actively seeking international collaborations and global partnerships to sustain their production pipelines and meet the ever-growing global demand for Manga and Anime content.
India’s rich storytelling heritage and rapidly growing digital media ecosystem make it a natural partner in Japan’s creative evolution. As a pioneer in Multimedia and Creative Arts education, IACG (International Academy of Computer Graphics) has been at the forefront of nurturing industry-ready professionals for over two decades.
Recognized among the Top 68 Certified Creative Media Schools worldwide by The Rookies, IACG combines production expertise, global collaborations, and advanced learning methodologies to develop creators equipped for international opportunities.
On September 10, 2025, IACG signed an MoU with Kyoto Seika University, Japan — the world’s first and top-ranked university dedicated to Manga and Anime.
This collaboration focuses on curriculum design, academic mentorship, and student–faculty exchange programs, building global learning pathways while addressing Japan’s growing demand for skilled creative professionals.
Through this landmark initiative, IACG aims to bridge the creative demand between the two nations — empowering the next generation of Manga and Anime creators to blend Indian imagination with Japanese precision.
